SCARY GRAMS ARE BACK!!!!!!!

STUDENT COUNCIL WILL HAVE AN INFORMAL WORK SESSION ON TUESDAY OCTOBER 17TH TO MAKE SCARY GRAMS TO BE SOLD DURING ALL LUNCH SHIFTS DURING THE WEEK OF THE 23RD THRU TO THE 30TH.
STUDENT COUNCIL WILL AGAIN MEET ON THE 3OTH TO DISTRIBUTE THE SCARY GRAMS TO ALL HOMEROOMS FOR DISTRIBUTION ON THE 31ST.
WE WILL MEET IN THE ART ROOM FOR BOTH OF THESE WORK SESSIONS.
ATTENDANCE IS NOT MANDATORY, BUT IT IS APPRECIATED!!

Welcome back to Westerly Middle School Year 2017-2018!  I am happy to say that the Student Council will be returning to WMS for this new school year!  Our Student Council is comprised of Representatives from Grades 5-8.  All students on student council have the opportunity to make positive contributions to our school and our community.  

Below are some important dates that you child will need to reference if he/she is interested in Student Council.

September 14th- Introduction and Nomination sheets are distributed during all grade level lunches.

September 22nd- Completed Nominations sheets are due in the MAIN OFFICE no later than 2:30pm.  If Poster board is needed, please see Mrs. Dean at this time.

September 25th-29th - Campaign Posters must be submitted to Mrs. Dean and will be displayed in the cafeteria until the Grade 8 Election and 5-7 Pod Voting on Friday, September 29th

Grade 8 students running for Officer Positions will present their speeches on Friday, September 29th with voting immediately after.

All Posters will need to be removed from the Cafeteria by the end of the day on the 29th!

Student Council Meetings will generally occur the 2nd Tuesday of each month unless otherwise noted in the morning announcements.

First Student Council Meeting will be October 10th from 2:30 to 3:30.  Late Bus will be available and students must sign up prior to 12 noon on that day.  The meetings will be held in Mrs. Donahue's ART ROOM.

MARCH STUDENT COUNCIL MEETING TO BE HELD ON WEDNESDAY - MARCH 1 IN THE ART ROOM FROM 2:35 -3:30.  THIS MEETING IS FOR STUDENT COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVES.
 
FRIDAY- FEBRUARY 24TH - STUDENT COUNCIL MEMBERS WILL BE SELLING WATER AND FOAM FINGERS FOR THE ANNUAL GRADE 8 DODGEBALL TOURNAMENT. TABLE WILL BE SET UP FROM 2:30 TO 4:00.

Holiday Cards and Centerpieces all created by the Westerly Middle School Student Council were delivered to the Clipper Rehabilitation Center on Tuesday- December 20, 2016!  Great job by all students for your efforts to bring a little joy to others during this holiday season!!

Candy Grams will be on sale thru WED-December 21 and student council will sort and deliver Candy Grams after school on Wednesday December 21 from 2:30 to 3:30.  Don't forget to sign up for the late bus!!  We will meet in the Art Room to assemble the bags for each homeroom!

Student Council will be meeting Monday thru Wed - December 12, 13, and (possibly on the 14th--announcement will be made as Mrs. Dean is unable to attend) in the Art room from 2:30-3:30 to work on Holiday Cards and Centerpieces and Candy Grams. Please try and attend all 3 work sessions and at minimum, 1 work session.  These sessions are for Representatives only.

We will be selling Candy Grams at lunch on the  15th and 16th.  And the 19th-21st.  Candy Grams will be .50 cents each  or 3 for 1.00.  You will be able to sign up at one of the work sessions for the lunch shifts you can assist with.

We will meet WED after school on Dec 21 to organize and distribute to homerooms the Candy Grams.

We do not have a confirmed date for delivery of Cards and Centerpieces at the Clipper at this time.

The Student Council will be conducting mandatory meetings on the first Wednesday of each month beginning with the Month of December.  The meetings will be from 2:30 to 3:30 and will take place in the library (unless noted).  All Representatives from grades 5 through 8 are expected to attend.  There will be additional work meetings that will take place throughout the months and those meetings will take place in the Art Room (
A209).

There will be a voluntary meeting for any representatives able to attend on Wed Nov 30th to get a head start on our Posters, Holiday Cards and Candy Grams for the month of December.  This meeting will take place in the Art Room ((A209).  Join us if you are able and be sure to sign up for the late bus!   CANCELLED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


Our first informal fundraiser for the 2016-2017 School year brought in $214.00 for the Student Council!  This was through the making and selling of Scary Grams at Halloween time!  Thank
you Student Council Representatives and Members for all of your hard work!
